PUNCH presents Oh, domain, large-scale color photographs by Carey Denniston. Drawing from Guy Debord's 1954 writings in the field of psychogeography, the photographs reveal the dynamic relationship between resident and residence, and the penetrating effects of space on the psyche. Here, Denniston sides with the Situationists' theory, that our cultural and physical influences create a subconscious undertow, wherein we are driven into a formulated pattern of behavior. In Oh, domain, we see the perspective of the resident responding to such restrictions - at times yielding, and at other times, with force.
Denniston received her B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Washington, along with a General Studies Certificate from the International Center of Photography, in New York. Oh, domain began while Denniston was living in Brooklyn, and finalized with her residency at École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie, in Arles, France.
October Hours: Noon-5pm Thurs-Sat,
